Brighten up your Sun Bleached and Faded Pillows with this Tip

Hello Once again it's been awhile since I've last posted.  I have been very busy with so many  projects going on. Is the sun ruining your furniture and fabrics?  You'd be surprised, but even indirect sunlight will bleach out furniture and fabrics over a period of time.

Hall Tree Bench Made from Pallet Wood

I finally finished making the entry way hall tree bench this past week. I have been wanting to make one for a very long time now.  It's been so hectic around here with the construction going on for the new addition. We are trying to move furniture from 2 rooms as the new addition gets tied into our home with beams, a door and window. There is just no more room to put anything during  this time. I did manage to complete some DIY projects that you can make too.

A Farmhouse Chair even you can make

I apologize for the long time in-between my posts.  I've been busy going to school and training.  As I was moving stuff around in the shed and putting away my summer yard tools and pots, I came across my sons crib mattress.
I thought I would make a farmhouse chair out of it like I made a bed for our dog with the other toddler  mattress and it came out pretty cool.

New House built on original foundation tour

Happy Friday everyone. I thought I would share with you a new  house built on the original foundation that we worked on.  The original house is on an unconforming lot which had to be taken down piece by piece and built back up.  The contractor on this build is the contractor that we have chosen to build our 1,000 sq.ft. addition.  He does wonderful quality work and the only problem starting our build is the fact he is  busy busy busy.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the original house.

Painted Signs for Shed

Hello Everyone. Glad it's friday. My list of  to-do projects grows everyday and we're already into June. Most of my other projects should of been completed weeks ago.  Since it's been raining every other day this past week, I decided to make some painted signs for one of my sheds.

Chalk Painted dresser with a stencil

Last year I got this dresser from a woman who was down sizing.  It's old and definitely shows it's age. The top was peeling and part of the hardware is missing.  I thought this would be a great piece to try chalk paint.  I let it sit for awhile out in the garage. That's where my projects await me.

I was looking thru some blogs that I follow and got my inspiration from Red Hen Home (www.redhenhome.blogspot.com).

Haunted Mansion junky picks

Haunted Mansion finds:

Look at the old wainscoting on the wall and the checker board tile on the floor. I bet this house was really nice back in the day.

Here is some of the "junk" I managed to get home after a couple of pickup truck and trailer loads.

Antique bed, I grabbed both of them

There were 2 pedestal sinks and 2 twin beds, doors, shelves, galvanized buckets and barrels.Galvanized chicken feeders, old style flat piano. All the old gardening and farming tools. A little too much to take it all with no place to store it. Chairs , furniture, heavy mirrors and so on. This house had a 12 foot elevator that went from the second floor to the attic, which was like another floor because the ceilings were so high. It was really overwhelming yet exciting,  but I still had the fear of some paranormal activity in the back of my mind. So I grabbed what I could.

Nice antique sign

This is a view of the 1st floor of the carriage house. Homeless people kept breaking in and living here as you can see from the mess.

Back view of the house. The carriage house is to the right of this picture but couldn't get it in this shot. The carriage house construction was beautiful. The post beam timber framing with no nail holes in any of the posts. The plank wood flooring, ceiling wood, doors  were salvageable, but we couldn't get anyone down the east coast to dismantle it for another location.
We took this Mansion down with over 30 tractor-trailer loads.
Note: Every new flashlight we bought, as soon as we entered the basement, all the flashlights would lose their charge. The big 2 mil. candle watt power flashlights and maglight that you can charge, same thing happened, something creepy about the basement....
